Introduced in 1959. Considered to be the world’s largest, most powerful shoulder-fired cartridge, the 460 shoots a 500 grain bullet at 2,600 fps, delivering an incredible 7,507 foot pounds of muzzle energy. That’s 50 percent more energy than the 458 Winchester. Heavy recoil to be sure, but few hunters who need to stop a charging Rhino or Cape Buffalo complain. Nearly four tons of smashing power makes the 460 the only choice for Africa’s most dangerous game.

Rick –
Avid collector of left handed Weatherby Rifles. Purchased a 460 several years ago to round out collection. Have been impressed by accuracy with three shot groups averaging an inch at 100 yd’s. This is pretty good since the bullet is nearly half an inch in diameter. A Led Sled with two 25 pound bags of lead shot makes recoil tolerable. Making arrangements now to use rifle for the first time on something other than at the range, a African cape buffalo hunt in the summer of 2020. Seriously hopping rifle performance and my ability will be up to the task!
