Some call me a lightweight because I tip the scale at as little as 5½ pounds. But there’s nothing light about the wallop I pack. I’ll stick with you all day and never slow you down.

Description
Wake me at 0-Dark:30 and don’t put me to bed until the sun goes down, because I am an all-day hunting machine. Sound a little bit like yourself? Then we’ll get along just fine. Weighing as little as 5½ pounds, I’m a natural born runner-and-gunner that’s as tough as an elephant’s hide – thanks to an “Armor Black” Cerakote® finish on my steel and a carbon fiber stock in “High Desert” camo. I am pure muscle, yet with my light weight I won’t be a burden on yours.

The 257 was my Second Weatherby Rifle I also own a 30-378 both are a joy to shoot! If I knew how great this rifle performed it would be the only hi power rifle I own!

I finally couldn’t resist any longer, and had not yet seen a Mark V Outfitter other than in the catalog, so I stopped in to see my trusty local dealer in Salmon, Idaho (Elmer Keith Country), and ordered one in 257 Weatherby Magnum. It arrived late last year (2016), and I wanted to keep it light so I mounted a delicious 30mm 3×9 Leupold Scope in Talley Lightweight mounts. Balance is excellent, even with a full magazine, and it weighs less overall than most other sporting rifles I own. So let’s move on to skinny-barrel accuracy… Cold barrel accuracy is superb. Two shots within 30 seconds or so are at or under a half inch. That’s all anyone needs in hunting; the first shot should have done the job. However, three shots fired in a minute or less are grouping around 9/16ths to 3/4-inch inch. The bullet choice makes a difference, as some bonded hunting bullets are inherently less accurate than most cup-and-core bullets. The rifle is an absolute gem!
