I look like I cost a fortune. I shoot like I cost even more. But just between you and me? I have the lightest price of any Mark V with a walnut stock. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t hit just as hard as the other Mark Vs in my family.
Description
Imagine, you crest a ridge and across the ravine spot the biggest 6×6 you’ve ever seen. He’s at 162 yards. Chip shot. You snap my Monte Carlo stock to your cheek. Diamond checkering welds your digits to the walnut. You breathe, hold, and squeeze my LXX™ trigger that you’ve adjusted to your desired pull. A Weatherby Magnum cartridge sends a bullet twisting through my 1-10” rifling, and 162 yards later it hits the mark with shuddering impact. Remember to hold me when you take a picture with the giant. Because I want to be in that shot too.

Always wanted a 7mm Weatherby mag so a few years back I purchased one.. After extensive reloading, shooting and hunting I feel the 7mm WM is the best 7MM mag made. When all aspects of this rifle/caliber is taken into consideration it is most certainly at the to of the 7mm food chain.

Previously I wrote about getting the Weatherby I wanted for 50 years and waiting for an elk with mt name on it to step out. Two days ago it happened. A full bodied 6×6 bull walked in front of my Weatherby 7mm Wby Mag and a 200 yard up hill shot hit him hard. He walked a few yards into timber and came out the other side several minutes later. The second shot hit just right and 3 steps later he was dead. The combination of the Weatherby Sporter and Weatherby ammo was perfect. I stood in awe over him and it’s still sinking in. One 150 Gr. bullet was found between the skin and hide when dressed. I’ll hunt while still can and will pass my Weatherby on to an Eagle Scout when I can’t. Thanks Weatherby.

I have the MARK V Sporter in 25-06. My rifle is the Pinnacle of accuracy. The trigger is flawless, the short bolt throw is incredible and the fit and finish is the best of any rifle I own.
What made this my favorite rifle is the fact I can print sub inch groups at 100 with ANY ammo I buy over the counter.

I have owned 6 Wby Rifles in past 15 years. All great shooters. The New USA Rifle the best yet. This is my second Mark V Sport both made in Cal. 1st was a 300Wby Mag. This one a 270 Wby Mag. Much nicer looking gun than older Japanese made Sporters. They preformed we’ll also but New Sporter closes the Looks.gap with Deluxe Models without closing the price gap. I think best value in Mark V lineup.

I bought my Weatherby Sporter 300 Wby Magnum used at the end of 2016. It is a 2008 model that probably was only shot a handful of times. It also came with what appeared to be a factory installed muzzle brake.
I was disappointed at first because the shots were way off target. It turns out that the brake was an aftermarket installed by some random gunsmith that the previous owner knew.
I sent the rifle in to Weatherby. They did have to take about a half inch off the tip of the barrel, but they installed and tested a factory brake.
I was able to finally take it out about a month ago and for the first time in my life, I shot sub-MOA. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, and that other guy’s loss is my gain. My next goal is to take it well beyond 100 yards.
I may or may not ever hunt again in my life, but I will always own this Weatherby.

I looked a long time for a Mark V Left hand Sporter. It has never let me down. Best shot was a trophy Muley at 450 yds. Thanks Weatherby!

When I was a boy scout I won my marksmanship merit badge by shooting five qualifying targets in five tries. The first Scout at the camp to ever do so. I wanted a Weatherby rifle since that day but life got in the way. At age 62 I attended a Boy Scout banquet and a Elk hunt to Colorado was auctioned off. My mind was made up. I won the auction and bought my Weatherby 7 MM Sporter the next day. Prior to that I had never shot over 100 yards and for me that was a long shot. I hired a instructor and with training and practice 3 weeks later I made my first 850 yard hit on a 3″ target. I haven’t got my first elk yet, but when one steps out with my name on it my Weatherby will be ready for it.

The Mark V Sporter is the best rifle I’ve ever owned! With a zero to long range capability, and a 180 grain bullet, nothing runs away! The 300 weatherby magnum is one of the best stop and drop game rifles of all time! I trust its performance anywhere anytime.
