I took the liberty of rewriting the U.S. Postman’s creed so it applies exactly to me: “Neither rain nor snow, nor sleet nor dark of night shall stay this rifle from the swift completion of my appointed rounds.”

The lightest/fastest hunting rifle on the market

The U.S. Postman’s creed, with a few little changes, is the Weatherguard in a nutshell: “Neither rain nor snow, nor sleet nor dark of night shall stay the Vanguard Weatherguard from the swift completion of its appointed rounds.” As the name implies, the rifle is fully guarded against weather – so take the Weatherguard into the nastiest environments without a single worry about how it will perform. The Monte Carlo stock is made of ultra-tough Griptonite® and all the metalwork has maximum protection with a great-looking Cerakote® finish. Now go deliver some heat.

My Dad’s Weatherby 300 Magnum Deluxe was the first gun I ever shot as a boy in 1975 and I have been a Weatherby fan since that day. My current Weatherguard lives up to my highest expectations, even at a price that put it in easy reach. Chambered in 270 Winchester, my Weatherguard shoots most loads well and some loads spectacularly, easily within 1/2 MOA. Everything about it feels just right – the balance, grip, and handling are perfect, and the trigger is the best I have ever shot with. From a performance standpoint, everything I have ever shot at has gone down and I have never had a disappointing day at the range, even when ringing steel at 600 yards. In short, I just love the look, feel and performance of this rifle.

This was not the rifle I intended to purchase, the shop didn’t have my first choice in .270 win was shown the weather guard in an attempt to salvage the sale. I’ve never shot a better or more accurate rifle. My weather guard loves all things hornady especially white tails in 130grain. Now my wife owns a camilla and I’m going to purchase another just can’t decide between 257roy and 6.5/300. Personally I will never own another bolt action that isn’t a weatherby keep up the good work

Every type of ammo except Hornady Superformance <1MOA. It is a do all rifle. I love the 6.5 Creedmoor caliber and this rifle.

Went to South Africa on safari in May of 2018. I took two Weatherby Vanguard Weatherguard centerfire rifles, a Springfield .30-06 and a 300 Winchester Magnum. Did not pull out the 300 Win Mag from the case. Hunted with the .30-06 and it performed flawlessly. Both rifles were equipped with Nikon Bushmaster 4-12×40 scopes. I used Sako Super Hammerhead 200 grain ammunition. The animals I hunted were Blue Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest, Impala, Springbuck, and Blesbuck. The shortest shot was 275 yards and the longest 350 yards. Again the rifle performed flawlessly, very flat shooting at medium to long range. I would recommend this rifle combination to anyone. Although I did not hunt with the 300 Win Mag, I am looking forward to do so in the not too distant future. Weatherby produces excellent long rifles.

This rifle is fantastic out of the box. I got it in 6.5 Creedmoor. My only reservation is that it does not shoot the Hornady 143 Precision Hunter well > 1.5″ MOA, but 120, 125 and 129 grain is sub 1″ MOA. Overall though, I am extremely satisfied with my Weather Guard in every other aspect.

Hello all !! I bought this weatherby rifle chambered in 6.5 creedmore, I was a little hesitant because it wasn’t a free floating barrel, but too my surprise this rifle is absolutely amazing, it’s very accurate, I mean three shots under an inch, it’s well balanced, it functions flawlessly, the trigger is perfect, the finish is amazing, I’ve had it in the rain, the heat and the cold so far , no rusting, no blemishes etc, I’ve shot and owned some really nice high quality rifles, and some cheaper ones as well, but this rifle is my favorite hands down !! And the 6.5 creedmore is absolutely fantastic on whitetail deer.. my first weatherby and my first 6.5 .. I’m very very impressed.. it’s weatherby for me , from here on out.. thanks weatherby for a great rifle !!

I purchased a Weatherguard .257 Weatherby Mag in 2016 . The gun is unbelievable !! We had rain and snow the 1st week of our deer season and the gun never got one little spot of anything on it !! The rifle is a tack shooter !! Covered a 3 shot group with a dime @ 200 yards , not to shabby LOL Also took a PA Black Bear with one devastating shot ”
Bear never took a step” !! This is my second Weatherby and can’t say enough great things about them !! Keep up the great work !

Sounds like everybody is pretty much satisfied with the Vanguard

I purchased my 7mm-08 and immediately drop shipped it to Hill Country Rifles in Texas. I had them aluminum pillar and glass bed the receiver and floor plate, free float the barrel, re-crown the barrel, tune-up the the trigger as well as do an inspection on the chamber, barrel, head spacing, etc.

I think I paid $600 for all this work including shipping back to Georgia. I have a target where they dialed in my Nikon scope and it shows a 100 yd 3-shot group at .354″ which is INCREDIBLE !!!

The reason I went with the Weatherby Vanguard was based on a recommendation from HCR. The owner stated that right out of the box the Weatherby Vanguard is by far the best production gun and that they see the best results and happiest customers when using the Vanguard series.

The 1st kill was a single shot on a nice 7 pt Whitetail. My son got his 1st deer/buck on my new gun which I’m thrilled about!!!

After shooting it free hand the 3 shot group would be covered up by a quarter @ 100 yards……But
Recently within the last week, I was at the Montpelier range and used a Caldwell Dead Sled DFT, and we got amazed. This weapon fired a three (3) shot group that could easily have been covered by a DIME @ 100yards and just outside a DIME @ 200 yards.
    Shooting 120gr & 140gr Fusion by Federal
Outstanding performance. Looking at a Laserguard right now to add to my collection
You’ll Not Find a Better Weapon for the Price

I own an original 7mm-08 Weatherguard made between 1979-1981. It carries a VL serial number. Out of All the rifles I presently own, and those that have left me; This one has never left my side. It shot 3 rounds the size of a Fifty Cent piece after boresighting, and now with the new Nikon Scope has even performed better. Down to a Quarter @100yrds. I’m 68 years young and this piece might just go to the mountain top when I leave this dirt.

Mom is a Vanguard, and Dad’s a Mark V Accumark. So I don’t want to brag, but I’ll shoot head-to-head against other rifles and bury them. With my Accumark DNA I’ll go SUB-MOA with premium ammunition. Guaranteed.

I was born in the backlands. Flatlands bore me. Give me mountains. Put me to the test on rugged ridges. Trust me in the harshest environments on planet earth. Hunting that country is what I live for – just like you.

I’m wild about technology, especially when it can help me with a little weight loss. With a light carbon fiber composite stock and strategic fluting on my barrel, I’m a lot easier to carry on challenging big game hunts.
