Purchased one of these last month in 30-06 and sighted in using Hornady SST Super Performance SST 165gr ammo and my last four shots including the final 3 shot grouping were <0.99 MOA at 100yrds. Very pleased with the accuracy and ease of shooting, the gun feels like an extension and just fits perfectly on your shoulder. Glad I finally got the Weatherby gun I've always wanted, got tired of borrowing my brother's 7mm Mark V, can't beat this gun for the price or double!

  2. Kc

Shoots great! Best gun i have bought for my money in awhile off the shelf.

  3. Corey

This is one of 5 Vanguards I’ve owned. Bought it in 30-06, shoots well enough. The stock is the cheapest part of the rifle, but I bought it with intentions of replacing the stock with a Bell and Carlson. It shoots Federal Blue box the best out of 4 different types I’ve tried.

Recoil is remarkably managed by the stock. I’ve shot several other rifles with smaller calibers that kicked like mules. The Weatherby stock keeps guns smooth and calm.

Bought it at Walmart for $250. Can’t be beat!
Wish i had bought one in 270 as well. Have a 270 in the Sporter, that shoots tacs.

PURCHASED WEATHERBY VANGUARD SELECT 270 WIN TOOK TO RANGE CLOVERLEAF GROUPS AT 100 YDS VERY IMPRESSED SHOT 2 HOGS SO FAR 312 YARDS LASERED NECK SHOT DROPPED HIM HORNADY CUSTOM AMMO GUN LOVES BEST INVESTMENT I MADE IN A LONG TIME

  5. Deadeye

Had never even picked up a Vanguard. This rifle is my favorite now. The bolt is smooth, no slop and shoulders well. I am amazed at the quality vs price. I am going to buy one in 6.5 C.M. it shot 3″ groups at first. Had to tighten stock bolts up. Love this gun and groups well under 1″

  6. Ephilran

Purchased the 30-06 Vanguard Select a month ago along with a Leupold scope and Talley rings.
Very accurate out of the box. Can’t wait to go hunting this Fall!

  7. Hellhound

Fantastic hunting rifle. Purchased in 30-06 going to eventually purchase another in the future. This company should be applauded for PRODUCING a rifle that stands up to its claims from smooth action to classic look of a fine sporting firearm

  8. Shirt

Bought this rifle, chambered for the .308 Win in 2011 for my wife. She had been using a .257 Roberts, but I felt it was a little light for Elk beyond 150 yds. The Vanguard was Priced right and fit her well. Recoil, while slightly more than her .257 Roberts, was still very manageable. (Not a big Gal) A testament to both the Cartridge and the rifle/stock.

Her first Elk hunt with this rifle was something to behold. Using a 168 Berger, she took 2 Cow Elk. One at 544yds (Laser), and another at 175 yds. (Multiple Tags in Wyoming) Both were one shot kills. While the Bullet selection is important to accuracy, the placement with a Berger is absolutely critical in my opinion.

With her (Not Me) behind the rifle, it consistently shoots sub .5 MOA using this Handload. I was unable to find a Premium Factory load that performed as accurately.

With well over a thousand rounds through it in 6 years, (and well cared for and maintained) this rifle still performs as well in 2018 as it did in 2011.

My son owns a Vanguard in .300 Wby and gets sub MOA performance using Factory Weatherby Ammo, and a good friend owns another in .300 Win. Again, Sub MOA using a handload Sierra 200gr SBT.

I am a Believer! Low cost doesn’t necessarily mean low quality. Weatherby has nailed it with the Vanguard! Keep up the great work!

  9. Sharpshooter03

I bought it for $350 I was at first skeptical about the price I got it at and when I took it out it was not only a great working gun but it was one of the most accurate rifle and the trigger is one of the best triggers I have ever seen.

  10. Cal

excellent accuracy in a well built rifle

  11. Paul

Mine is in .270 I shoot factory loaded bullets in 140 grain, the accuracy is unreal, typically I shoot one shot then use the hole for my target, I shoot four more shots and most times it’s hard to tell there is more than one hole. 100 yards off sandbags. Also I’ve killed 3 cow elk with it, one was a head shot at 509 yards, then a neck shot at 197, only because I couldn’t see her head, then a running heart shot at 98, I took those shots because of my confidence in this weapons accuracy.

  12. gamtime

Excellent rifles. I bought my oldest son the 300 Wby Mag when he was 18 and he is now 37. I bought my youngest son the 7mm Mag when he was 14 and he is now 30. I can’t count how many deer have been killed with these two rifles. It seems like they shoot better and better the more they are used. Looking at buying a Select Vanguard for my soon to be 14 year old grandson.

  13. MICHAEL

I have the Vanguard it is excellent rifle for the price and i have made a deer kill out to 641 yards in a corn field and trusted i to get the job done and that was the second time hunting with the gun love it

  14. Rabu

I purchased the Vangaurd two years ago. Not only is it good pricing, but it is very well made. Perfect for Western USA hunting, this is my second Vanguard, if that tells you something.

  15. Roger

I bought the Vanguard synthetic in 300 Win Mag. It puts 3 shots within 1 inch at 100 yards. Consistently hits a 5 inch steel plate at 300 yards…..fine rifle. It might do better than that with a better shooter than me. I miss that steel plate sometimes.

  16. Eric

Four shots at four whitetails in four years. Not one deer took one step. Awesome gun!

  17. Jacob

Can’t go wrong with one of these. After years of borrowing my dads rifles for deer and elk hunts I picked one of these up in a 7mm. Shoots 140 Barnes ttsx sub MOA at 3150 FPS. Also, one of my favorite factory triggers out there on a bargain priced rifle.

  18. JCW

I have this in a 22-250 and 300 WSM they both shoot very accurate I am shooting SUB MOA out of the box with both guns!!!!

  19. Bill

The 308 has dropped two nice 8 points one shot each. Shoot clover leafs at 100 yards with hand loads. The 257WM is a great gun shots 100 yard one inch high clover leafs, then 200, 300, 400 and 500 yards ringing the metal each time one shot. 500 takes 26 clicks. Again hand loads Barnes TTSX 168 gun.

  20. Butch9101

I bought one of these last year. It’s accuracy is amazing and the quality of the gun is great!! I highly recommend

  21. Ruger 4800

I bought this gun used at a gun show in the 90’s. I have never shot a factory load in this gun just my hand loads @ 100yards it shoots 3 shots with 3 holes almost touching each other shooting with a coat rolled up off of hood of a truck. The gun is a 300 weatherby shooting 180 grain bullets.

  22. BA

The most accurate rifle I own is also the least expensive, a Weatjherby Vanguard in 270. That’s why I didn’t hesitate to buy another Vanguard in 308 because of my experience with them and .99 moa promise. I love expensive rifles but I also love accurate ones. I’m not saying a synthetic stock is as pretty as a wood one but if it’s for hunting it just makes sense to go synthetic .

  23. Keith

In 2012 I bought a $20 raffle ticket with friends of the nra in phoenix. a month later I get a call I won. I was asked to select a gun from the list without ever seeing it I selected the 257 weatherby. Had no Idea what it was. After getting it I found the ammo is insanely expensive. $80 bucks a box. Since I hand load I made my own with 338 win. cases and 7mm rem cases. slightly short but works good. after playing with loads all winter I settled on 62 grains aa4350 and 117 grain sst and hornaday soft point. so accurate I can soot all day put every round inside a nickel at 100 yds. most accurate rifle I ever fired. I want another.

Mom is a Vanguard, and Dad’s a Mark V Accumark. So I don’t want to brag, but I’ll shoot head-to-head against other rifles and bury them. With my Accumark DNA I’ll go SUB-MOA with premium ammunition. Guaranteed.
